The first European hydrogen valley with an industrial focus will start on February 3, 2025. Styria, Upper Austria and Carinthia are investing a total of 578 million euros in 17 projects for the production, storage and use of green hydrogen by 2030. The EU is supporting the project with a funding commitment of 20 million euros. <\/p>\n

The aim of the project is to produce over 10,000 tons of green hydrogen per year in the three federal states by 2028. 48 partners are involved in the implementation. The focus is on the areas of industry, energy and mobility. <\/p>\n

In Styria, the energy-intensive steel, cement and raw materials sectors are particularly difficult to decarbonize according to the EU. The use of green hydrogen is therefore crucial. By 2030, 50 percent of conventionally produced hydrogen in the EU is to be green. The aim is to decarbonize these sectors on a pilot basis with the help of the Hydrogen Valley in Styria. From 2028, it is expected that around 5,500 tons of green hydrogen will be produced in Styria every year. <\/p>\n

The Valley will also be integrated into the “SoutH2Corridor”, a 4,000 km long hydrogen pipeline from North Africa to Germany. This connection facilitates international transportation and security of supply. <\/p>\n

Companies such as Energie Steiermark, which is also one of our clients, and Graz University of Technology with the HyCentA research institute play a leading role in the research and development of hydrogen technologies.<\/p>\n

Building on the Renewable Gasfield Gabersdorf project, in which we are playing a key role, the Hydrogen Valley represents a significant step in the decarbonization of industry and will strengthen the future energy supply in Austria and Europe.<\/p>\n
